Franklin to redesign city logo
Residents encouraged to submit ideas for design

Franklin, IN – The city of Franklin is currently seeking citizen suggestions for a new city seal.
Krista Linke, planning director and president of Discover Downtown Franklin, feels that a newer, more distinct insignia will better communicate key messages about the community.
“The city would benefit by updating the logo to a more recognizable image that is representative of the kind of community we live in,” she said.
“Basically we are asking people to tell us what makes them feel at home here in Franklin, what things they think are good that Franklin has to offer,” Zach Burton, director of communications for Mayor Fred Paris said.
The current logo, a profile of Benjamin Franklin, has been used for many years and came about as a result of a similar community input event. While the design has served the city well, officials feel it is time to develop something more recognizable and specific to the community.
“For some people it might be one of the historic buildings, for others it might be more conceptual, and that’s great too,” he said.
“Our goal is to take something people treasure about the city and represent it in our design,” he said.
Residents of Franklin are asked to submit ideas electronically by emailing Zach Burton at zburton@franklin-in.gov, or by calling the mayor’s office at 736-3602 through Friday June 26.
